Just a quick post to say that I will be selling in Hillhead Library, Byres Road, Glasgow tomorrow (Sat 21st Oct) from 10am - 4pm.

As well as my iPod cosies, stitch markers and jewellery there will also be Lilith's debut: handspun, hand-dyed hat kits which are utterly divine! On sale at my stall.

And also, for knitters; K1 Yarns has a charity stall including mittens and other wintery goodness, knitted by Glasgow knitters for Childline - help a charity and buy lots! There is also a stash swap, during which time I will be abandoning my stall to dive through!

The boy brought my iMac to life again by giving her a heart [battery] transplant with a heart donated from his machine. True love indeed :) And so I was able to print out more badges for the Miso Funky craft fair this weekend [Saturday 9th September 10am - 4pm, Hillhead Library, Byres Road, Glasgow, Scotland]

Do come along if you're in the area! - tonnes of pretty craftiness from funky designer folks.

Woo-eee! Blogger let me post more pics! Bracelet above is me in an extremely autumnal mood - Plastic and glass beads on a jewellery-quality aluminum 7 inch chain with gold-plated extender adding another inch of length. It could also be shortened.

Fishy bead on a phone / zipper / bag charm - I LOVE this bead, it's so creative - made of glass with accent green seed beads at top and bottom.

This is a more modular piece - made with a large orange anodized aluminum jump ring on a silver-plated snake chain. The small purple jump rings are also anodized aluminum, with a big purple plastic rectangular bead and light amber faceted glass bead to the left.

I'm going to be taking lots for photos to list these for Etsy - so if anyone wants more pics / prices etc please don't hesitate to email me!

I've had a very productive weekend preparing for my next stall - the spiderman iPod cover has a darker more black/purple spider (the camera wasn't playing!) and is £7.50 / $13.65 - mail me if you would like it, as I'm not listing on Etsy until after the stall.

The top earrings are made using gold-plated earrings & findings, vintage metallic bronze 10mm beads and Swarovski citrine 4mm bicone beads. I love the autumn-al feel to these earrings. I haven't decided a price yet, but feel free to mail me.

The blue/green beads are made with silver-plated earrings & silver-plated & sterling-silver findings. The green and blue shapes are glass beads that I totally love for their eighties retro feel - I have a few more of these style beads and am planning a necklace to match. Again, no price yet, but if you want them mail me!

Well I turned on my iMac at the weekend to print up some more buttons - nothing. Press the button - no response... Checked the plug, connections etc. etc - no response. My baby has had a little question mark on start-up for about 2 years now - guess the battery finally gave up the ghost. It's the first ever Bondi Blue iMac so it's served me well - but I do feel a little emotional.

Did I back up everything? Of course not. Most of it - but the badge images? Nope. The boy has a later iMac, so I checked the mains leads but no change. So I'm going to take the battery out and replace it with his - grab all my stuff of the hard-drive then it's probably recycle city for my baby :(

I'm a bit scared about replacing the battery - full instructions came with the iMac so presumably it is safe, otherwise they wouldn't have provided instructions - right? But it is filled with bolded type throughout the instructions saying things like: Do NOT move around the room in case you build up static ... do NOT touch the motherboard ... stay very still and hold your breath ... [OK so I made the last one up, but you get the gist]

On another note I got these fantastic adonised aluminium jump rings from the Ring Lord - a sample pack like this costs $3.00 with free Airmail shipping to the UK - I mentioned on the Etsy chat rooms whether anyone knew if coloured jump rings existed and one of the members linked to this site - amazing! The US has everything! I can't wait to use these for my jewellery-making. I also got some coloured Nibium jump rings, but they were too small to photograph properly.

Opal-essence necklace

Opal focussed necklace with with glass opal beads and Swarovski bicone beads in white opal, olivine, crystal silver, light azure and aquamarine.

I found the white opal circular beads whilst on holiday in Barcelona, and wanted to create an icy-cool style piece with these as my focus beads.

I attached these and the Swarovski beads to a silver-plated chain at various random intervals - then attached this to a silver-plated chain.

Presenting my iPod Nano mittens!! Made to keep your little Nano snuggly and warm, this little mitten will protect Nano from scratches and bumps.

I'm planning to make these in a whole range of colours, so if you'd prefer another colour just let me know - Email me. Most of the colour range available can be found in my shop - although I do have a few colours that I haven't yet tried.

I was also thinking of making two mittens and attaching them to each other with ribbon / i-cord - the idea being that they could be worn around the neck with the Nano in one as a kind of necklace - bringing back childhood memories of mittens on a string! Whaddya think?

My featured seller this week is Sew Easy Creations whose funky little washing-up liquid bottle aprons are so quirky!

I [obviously!] have a thing for cherries, and during my meanderings through Etsy I came across this fabulously simple, yet genius idea to stop the dribbles from running down your washing-up bottle and also dressing up a dull kitchen item.

She has lots of other fun designs in her shop, although the cherries is my fav. Take a look!

Stitch Marker jewellery

These are my hot firey Swarovski stitch markers / jewellery! I made them because I was looking for a mobile storage solution for stitch markers, and the idea of them as 'charms' to a necklace or bracelet was the perfect solution.

I love the contrast between the firey Swarovski beads, and the jet black Swarovski accent bead. The accent bead is helpful to mark the beginning/end of a row when working on the round.

The aqua chain I felt just finished the piece off - it's such a vibrant contrast to firey markers.

As the stitch markers are removeable and come with a necklace / bracelet set it is entirely upto the wearer to decide how many stitch markers they need, and whether to wear just the necklace or bracelet - or both!

Today I'm going to rave about N.E.E.T. Magazine

This is an utterly fabulous online magazine that brings to the attention of its readers the best of the best from the smaller creative sellers out there. It's like Etsy all polished up pretty and put in a magazine. My words can't do this magazine justice - check it out yourself!

Quote from 'About' page: "N.E.E.T. Magazine is the brainchild of Stephanie J, who is based in the UK. Everything in the magazine is handpicked, designed and organised by her, the editor.N.E.E.T. began in December 2005 as a quarterly, online publication, laid out in a magazine format - as a showcase for grassroots creativity."

It takes a while to download so I wouldn't download from a dial-up connection but I promise that it is worth the wait. Don't lose interest and move on because you'll regret it!

I thought I'd show some of the handmade stitch markers I have designed. As an avid [utterly addicted!] knitter I have made these ensuring there are no 'snaggy' bits to catch on pretty yarn.

Each set also has a marker that is slightly different from the rest to highlight the start of the row, whilst the others can be used as a guide to pattern repeats.

I started designing the sock size stitch markers initially as I can never find any small enough for these projects.

I then moved onto outsize markers - as there seems to be a gap in the market for outsize markers as well.

Currently being researched are stitch markers for lace knitting - watch this space!

Amy's Babies is one of my fav sellers - I just love these little crochet Amigurumi animals - she takes custom orders too - so if you have an animal or character you love I would contact her - she's so friendly and I'm sure will give it a go!

Amigurumi is a Japanese art - "Amu" means to knit & "Nuigurumi" means doll - although it's crochet-only. These little crochet dolls are usually animals only. I can't wait to learn - I think this could be an inspiring hobby!

I'm still thinking of what I would like - although I simply LOVE the Johnny Deep "Willy Wonka" character above so I may request an Alchemy from her for this one.

She has inspired me to take up crochet - which I haven't yet started [as there aren't enough crafty days in the week!] but am poised with Happy Hooker to begin learning.

I live in Glasgow in Scotland with my partner 'the boy' and my cat (who is never allowed in my room o'crafting!)
I turned 29 on the 06/06/06 *gulp*
I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1999 with a degree in Graphic Design.
I am a library assistant for a university library by day.
I am addicted to crafting & have an entire room dedicated to my addiction.
I sell my crafty wares on Etsy and at craft stalls in Glasgow.
My next stall will be on the 15th July at Hillhead Library Byres Road Glasgow.

These are a few of the covers I have designed and made for iPods. There are currently lots more in my Etsy store, and even more 'in production'

I can make them to fit most mp3 players, phones etc - just email me so if you see one you like but you have a different iPod/mp3, phone, or anything else you fancy just let me know!

I did a lot of research into the best design and found that the 'sock' was much better for ease of use whilst on the move.

100% cotton was the best yarn to knit with as it doesn't stretch or lose it's shape. This means that your cover will stay snug-fitting all the time. Another reason I decided to go with 100% cotton is that this will not scratch your precious [and expensive!] gadgets. [Animal fibres and felt have reportedly left small scratches on iPods]
